NEATH – Clasp (AFP)

Operation NEATH was a combined ASIO, AFP, VICPOL and NSWPOL counter-terrorist investigation carried out in 2009 which resulted in the arrest and trial of five men on charges of plotting to carry out an act of terrorism. Specifically the five men, who were alleged to be connected with the Islamic terrorist group al-Shabaab, were charged with planning and preparing to carry out an armed attack on the Australian Army base at Holsworthy in the west of Sydney, NSW and possibly other army establishments in Victoria. 9Members of the AFP involved in Operation NEATH were awarded the AFP Operations Medal with clasp NEATH
