NEATH – Clasp (AFP)
Operation NEATH was a combined ASIO, AFP, VICPOL and NSWPOL counter-terrorist investigation carried out in 2009 which resulted in the arrest and trial of five men on charges of plotting to carry out an act of terrorism. Specifically the five men, who were alleged to be connected with the Islamic terrorist group al-Shabaab, were charged with planning and preparing to carry out an armed attack on the Australian Army base at Holsworthy in the west of Sydney, NSW and possibly other army establishments in Victoria. 9Members of the AFP involved in Operation NEATH were awarded the AFP Operations Medal with clasp NEATH

Operation PENDENNIS was a Melbourne-based combined Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), AFP, Victoria Police (VICPOL) and New South Wales Police (NSWPOL) counter-terrorist investigation carried out between 2004 and 2005 which resulted in the arrest
and trial of nine men on charges of plotting to carry out acts of terrorism. Operation Pendennis, along with its related Sydney-based Operation PENDENNIS-EDEN, was one of the most important terrorism investigations in Australian history and successfully disrupted a terrorist act from occurring on Australian soil. Members of the AFP who were involved in Operation PENDENNIS were awarded the AFP Operations Medal with clasp PENDENNIS.
